3. EPA Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water
In the essay Water on Tap: A Consumer's Guide to the Nation's Drinking Water, the EPA addresses a variety of water-related issues in a question-answer format. (Example: Can I Do Anything In My House To Improve The Safety Of My Drinking Water? "You can choose to install a home water treatment device to add a factor of safety, or to address concerns about the taste of your water.")

After reading Water on Tap... survey your community's water quality report:

The Environmental Protection Agency also provides an abundance of information on Watersheds, or the "land areas that catch rain or snow and drain to specific marshes, streams, rivers, lakes, or to ground water."

Locate your community's Watershed and evaluate the "health" of aquatic resources!

4. U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
The USGS offers "science for a changing world." Of particular interest is the USGS's state-by-state list of Drinking Water Programs.
